The Basics
Yomi is a fighting game in card form where hand management skills replace physical dexterity. Just like in a fighting game, you have to know your character, know the matchup, and know your opponent. Each character has a deck that follows the same conventions as a deck of playing cards. This makes it easy to learn the contents of your deck: numbered cards are normal moves, face cards are special moves, and aces are super moves.
A Strategy Game for Thousands of Plays
While Yomi is good for a quick session and portable enough to play on the go, it's also a serious competitive game with a community that strives to improve. It's a strategy game with a high skill ceiling, so it's something you can play over a thousand times. Years of development and lots of tournament play means you can count on it holding up no matter how deep you get into it.
Lots of Characters and Modes
This set has 4 characters, though there are 16 more characters to collect, each with their own special abilities, creating over 200 matchups. Find the character whose personality matches your playstyle. You can play Yomi in the classic 1v1 mode, an over-the-top 2v2 tag team mode (similar to Marvel vs. CaPiecesom), a practice solo mode, or a 3v3 mode (similar to King of Fighters).
Characters in this set:
Grave- Versatile and powerful, including one of the most powerful super moves in the game. If you can read the opponent well, you'll get more Dragonheart attacks than usual.
Jaina- Jaina can attack a lot and buy back her attacks by paying life. She can take risks with Unstable Power in order to get even more super moves than usual. Even her blocked moves deal more damage than other characters.
Midori- Midori can transform into a green dragon, and then his moves are much more powerful. He's a grappler with good defense. In Dragon Form, he can block to fetch cards from his discard pile to build a great hand.
Setsuki- Some of the best card draw in the game. After doing a combo, Setsuki can usually refill her hand. Very fast attacks. Some ninja tricks to recur certain cards and to escape danger.
