Elephants are large and majestic, and young children are fascinated by them. Elephants are portrayed in children's literature and cartoons as kind, gentle and trustworthy despite their large size. The Asian elephant is generally smaller than its African counterpart, with an average height of more than 2.4m tall and over 3,400 kgs.
However, despite its size and strength, the elephant is an endangered species with an estimated population of not more than 60,000 in the world today. An adult elephant needs to consume about 189 litres of water and around 100kg of food or approximately 70,000 calories daily. This Schleich Asian Elephant Calf is modelled after a baby elephant posing as if it is walking briskly. This model has high details and resembles the real animal. It is made from durable plastic for durability, and this model can stand on its own. Suitable for ages 3 years and above.
