It plays well as a quick 2-player game, especially between 2 players who know how to play, but it also scales up to 6 players. The object of the game is to be the first to complete your unique rune recipe to complete the Essence of Eternity and unlock the power of immortality, winning the game. At the start of the game, each player chooses an avatar with powerful magical abilities, enabling individual strategies. Then the competing mages explore the realms of forest, mountain, and underworld, combating fearsome monsters and collecting magical runes along the way.
Players can use their runes to cast spells to aid their quest or to inhibit their opponents, or choose to save their runes for completing their rune recipe. Achieving the right balance of how to use your cards and when to interfere is the key to victory.
