Good Games is arriving in Marrickville! On Sep 12, our doors open at 314-316, Marrickville Road to give local Inner West gamers what they've been waiting for. Come on by for your favourite Trading Card Games, board games, and all things tabletop (including play space too!)
Before you meet Good Games Marrickville, let's meet Cadhla Roberts, manager and owner of the franchise and avid gamer.
Cadhla Roberts brings Gaming to the Inner West
Cadhla Roberts, the new owner of the Good Games Marrickville franchise, is set on one thing—providing a gaming space for his local community.
"Community, delight and celebration" were the three words Cadhla used to describe what his store brings to the heart of Marrickville. After he and his friends rekindled interest in old hobbies such as Magic: The Gathering and Dungeons and Dragons, Cadhla noticed the lack of a dedicated gaming store in the Inner West and saw an opportunity to create that local gaming space - and Marrickville seemed like the perfect place to start.
"Members of our community should have the utmost confidence that my team and I can provide assistance and knowledge in all areas they are interested in", said Cadhla, understanding the importance of community input when it comes to being ingrained in the local gaming scene.
Ultimately, Cadhla aims to invest back into the gaming space that he has been immersed in with Good Games, stating "We are here to listen and collaborate with our community, if there is a game you have always to play at an event, or a learn to play you have always wanted to participate in, come in and talk to us. Together we can build a community that we are all proud to be a part of."
A Gaming Space for Everyone
Cadhla and Good Games aim to bring inclusive play to Marrickville, with Cadhla seeing it as his duty "to build up an environment that promotes safety, comfort and trust" in a store and gaming space for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts.
Noting his experience starting out in the world of TCG's and tabletop gaming, Cadhla reminisces on being introduced to Magic: The Gathering through friends at University.
"I wasn’t particularly good at it, but I had a lot of fun spending evenings with my friends’ building decks and playing against each other. I settled on a Green White deck with the Ajani Planeswalker card just because I thought they were neat."
It's this passion for gaming that Cadhla intends to bring to Good Games Marrickville - building a place for you to join our Inner West gaming community "whether you are learning to play a game for the first time, joining a friend to discover a new hobby, or returning as a regular to a space you enjoy".

Cadhla wants to bring more than just a gaming store to Marrickville, aiming to infuse Good Games' identity of community play to the Inner West, stating that "a great event is an opportunity for all people to feel welcome to enjoy their hobbies or discover something new about themselves, it is a space to make new friends within a community and celebrate their passions."
